Say hello to beautiful trees. Tell us your location to get the best tree care services for your area!
Green Drop Trees is proud to have a team of experts specializing in the management of both Dutch Elm Disease (DED) and Emerald Ash Borer (EAB). Our experienced arborists are well-versed in surveillance, prevention, education, and removals, ensuring comprehensive and effective urban forest protection.
Our certified arborists are trained to accurately identify the signs and symptoms of EAB infestation. We understand the biology and behaviour of EAB beetles, including their preferred habitats within the tree, which allows us to collect targeted samples effectively. Since 2023, Green Drop Trees has been installing EAB traps throughout Manitoba to support early detection and monitoring efforts.
Green Drop Trees has conducted DED surveillance across multiple provinces over the past decade. Our arborists perform thorough inspections at ground level and supplement them with aerial drone assessments for a more comprehensive view. All team members are trained to recognize early signs of infection, enabling prompt response.
Prevention is the cornerstone of effective DED management. Since 2016, Green Drop Trees has performed preventative injections on over 1,000 elm trees across urban forests in the Prairies. We utilize GIS technology to manage tree inventories, monitor injection history, and plan treatments efficiently—particularly for large clients such as universities and cemeteries. Beginning in 2025, we are honoured to be contracted for a five-year DED injection program at the Manitoba Legislature to help preserve Winnipeg’s elm canopy.
Each year, our arborists visit communities to deliver complimentary workshops on DED injection. These sessions aim to raise awareness about the importance of protecting the remaining elms and to empower local residents and property owners with knowledge and practical skills.
Tree removal is a last resort in DED management but is sometimes necessary to prevent further spread. Performing removals in winter presents unique challenges, but our team is fully equipped to handle them. With grapple loaders, bucket trucks, skid steers, snow bikes, and a team of hardy, experienced arborists, we complete winter removals safely and efficiently. Each year, Green Drop Trees removes over 1,000 DED-infected trees in Manitoba.
