Jon Makar

Hello, my name is Jon Makar, and I’m a Certified ISA Arborist based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. My tree care journey began with a childhood love of nature and a curiosity to learn all there was to know about it. My passion for understanding plant life and sharing that knowledge with others led me to a career in academia, along with the invaluable experiences that came with it.

I believe it is my social responsibility as an arborist to encourage our communities and companies to collaborate with tree care professionals. By educating and inspiring others, we can collectively take action to improve our urban forests.

With a university education in ecology and hands-on experience as a researcher after graduation, I now oversee our disease diagnostic laboratory in Winnipeg. Our laboratory not only supports in-house training for arborists but also fosters collaboration with academics in the research field. At Green Drop, we believe that knowledge is the key to success.
